Karen Ann Perrine Date of Birth: Fri, 07/10/1953 Date of Death: Wed, 12/28/2011
Karen Ann Perrine (Gaden) 58, passed away on December 28, 2011. It is with deep sadness that I share with you the passing of Karen Perrine . Karen put up a hard fight for many months suffering from Liver disease but in the end the Lord won out and she is now resting peacefully. Karen was preceded in death by her father Theodore (Ted) Gaden, and brother David. She is survived by her mother, Carolyn; daughter, Tabitha (Sharon); sisters Sheila (Harold) and Cathy (George); nieces Kimberly, Melissa, Jaelyn, nephew Bryan, and many dear cousins and close friends. Karen attended Catholic School in Cedar Grove, N.J., and graduated from Cy-Fair High School in Houston, Texas. Karen attended (and was very active) at ‘The Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Spring’ Church. She loved her Church family and it gave her great pleasure to worship there. Karen had a heart for those who suffered with addictions, and focused on her education and training in order to professionally support and help those in need. She then obtained her counseling certificate LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor) . The great passion of Karen’s life has been in her ability to help others and work out life problems. In addition to support and counseling at many Rehabilitation Centers, Karen worked as a counselor to prison inmates with alcohol and drug addictions in the Texas Prison System and loved it. She eventually became a key leader in the Addiction Program at the prison, and was instrumental in the success of the program. Karen retired from the State of Texas Department of Corrections in 2004. Karen was an avid artist most of her life, and picked up her artistic skills again in the last few years of her life by painting many excellent watercolors which she has left to her family and friends. Karen had a great sense of humor, had a great love of her family, was an empathetic listener, and knew the Lord as her Savior. Our family is greatly amazed at the many friendships Karen had. Many folks said "Karen is my best friend", we didn't know...instead, we thought we were her best friends! That was Karen, she made everyone feel that they were the most important person in her life! We will miss her greatly! Please enjoy these prayers from Karen's journal: June 22, 2011: “Father, I marvel at your provision and the realization that you are involved in my life. You hear me when I seek you and ask for requests. This is because you LOVE me more than I love myself.” October 21, 2011 “Father, you meet my needs. All that I have has been a gift from you. I love you and live through your son, Jesus, who has taken away my hurt, pain, sin, and addiction. His love is poured out in my heart. Lord, I will be mindful to be a blessing to others. Please increase my love, understanding and speak as the oracles of life.”

    To Karen's family,
I am sure I am one of the one's you do not know. We are missionaries to Panama, having been sent out from Spring Vineyard in September. Karen painted a watercolor from one of our pictures of Panama and sold copies of it for our financial support. I realized shortly before we left that I didn't have a copy. I asked for one and the next Sunday I recieved one. Mounted and framed. That was the Karen I knew and loved. I suspect she and Charlcie are praising God, playing music, and painting pictures!
May the joy she gave and the love of Jesus bring you a peace that passes all understanding.

Karen was an amazing counselor and wonderful person. She helped many of the prison inmates overcome the addictions that kept them returning to prison. I always enjoyed speaking with her while working in TDCJ and had kept in touch through eMails but hadn't known she was fighting for her life. I'm sure she is now with God through Jesus Christ and I pray that he will keep her friends and family safe and secure in that knowledge!

In October, when you sent me my birthday card you wrote,"I like to pick out scriptures that hopefully will resonate in the Spirit. Especially as we look to see the Day Approaching" And then you shared a scripture once again and stated ,"We haven't had our spiritual conversations in a long time!" No,my friend we have not but we will surely have plenty such discussions when we meet again.

You will forever remain a part of me. How could you not, after all the heated discussions we've had over politics, thank goodness we finally decided that politics was one subject we mustn't engage in :) Not to mention every Christmas how you would always say how much you enjoyed my Puppy Chow. It is New Year's Eve, Karen, and I am wishing you a Happy New Year and future with no more pain, no more tears,no more worries, no more fears, no more medications, just pure freedom to be. Just to be! Enjoy your newfound freedom, friend. You have earned your rest from this pilgrimage here.

As you always would end our conversations and would sign off your letters, cards and notes to me, I now will close with your words, "Love ya!

The Alexander’s Family would like to express their condolences. We have never met, but we would like to just share some word of comfort to the family because life can be so overwhelming sometimes. The pain, the grief, and the feeling of hopelessness can be unbearable.

Hopefully you can find comfort in family and friends but most of all thru Almighty God’s Word the Bible, whose ear and supplication is toward the distress ones. He will also fulfill His promise at Isaiah 25:8 “He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces . . . Jehovah himself has spoken it.”

Also at 2Corinthains 1:3-4 says “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort.” (Read also Revelation 21:3,4). These are just a few scriptures that comforted me in my time of need and hopefully you found comfort in them too.

    Sincerely,
    The Alexander’s Family

In 2 Timothy 4:7-8, we read, "I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day...". Karen earned her crown and will now rest eternally with our Lord and Savior. May peace be with her family, knowing they will see her again,

My condolences to the family. I pray you find comfort in knowing that even though we may loose a loved one in death, God will bring to life all those found in his memory. (Job 14:15 John 5:28,29)
