Bonna Fay Young Date of Birth: Sat, 06/13/1931 Date of Death: Sat, 12/31/2011
Bonna Fay Young, 80, passed from this life and on to her heavenly reward on Saturday, Dec. 31. Bonna was born to Tommie and Opal Bledsoe on June 13, 1931 in the Ten-Mile community located between Madisonville and Normangee, Texas. She attended school and lived in Huntsville while her father worked for the Texas Prison System. He was transferred to Angleton, and Bonna then later graduated from Angleton High School. Three days after her high school graduation in 1949, at age 17, she married Nolan Allen Young. They have been married for 62 years. Bonna Fay was a loving, unselfish wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Second only to her love of God and worship was her dedication to her family. She was the ultimate stay-at-home mother and grandmother and no one has ever loved life more or given their family more than Bonna. From yearly summer family vacation trips at Garner State Park to recitals, sporting events and FFA shows – Bonna seldom missed any family events and she made each gathering memorable in her own special way. She was often seen cooking and caring for church friends and others. She believed that you should show people that you love them by being there to cheer them on, lend a hand, offer a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen. She loved unconditionally and with all her heart. She instilled those family values and traditions to last throughout the lives of her sons and her grandchildren. Only after her sons were in high school, she took a job outside the home working for Cy-Fair ISD in its school cafeterias. Bonna also enjoyed Nolan’s participation in country music and bluegrass events over the years and they have made many friends through their music. Not only can we never forget Bonna but we can never forget the things she taught us. While it is difficult to let her go, we know that we will see her some day in Heaven where the family reunion will be never-ending and our joy will be complete. Bonna is survived by her husband of 62 years, Nolan Allen Young, and three sons – Terry Young and wife Chris; Jed Young and wife Susan; and Clay Young and wife Lisa. Grandchildren include Audrey McCleary and husband Kevin; Nathan Young; Jodi Young; Mindy Young; Kati Young; Monet Young; Mason Young; Bonni Young; and Carli and Cassidi Young. Great grandchildren include Madison and Tanner McCleary. Sisters include Jo Beth Cochran and husband Earl; and Carolyn Karber and husband Randell. Nieces and nephews include Lynnette and Jim Busceme; Earl Ray and Tammy Cochran; Judy Wilkins; Dena and Chad Abernathy and Bart Karber. She is also survived by many friends.
