THE STORY OF THE NAIL HEART
The nail was used to hold him fast Unto him fast.
Unto the cross for sins so vast.
For all the world's great sins that day
Were borne by him that we might say:
" Christ is my Lord, my strength, my song,
And unto him my life belongs;
I don't deserve the love the love you show,
But through your gift my life's aglow!"
By God's grace those who believe
And confess their sins will have reprieve.
Never will death cause fear again
Thanks to Jesus, who
took our sin!
The heart formed from the twisted nail
Reminds me that Christ's loves prevails.
I wear it proudly for all to see,
Thankful for his love for me !

A teacher and coach of 32 years, Gary Elton Coffey is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nel; their three sons Brady and wife Jessica, Todd and wife Sarah, and Ryan; daughter Courtney and husband Ty; two grandsons Owen and Wyatt; mother Dorothy; two brothers Jeff and wife Jenny and Brian and wife DeLaine; two sisters Sharon and husband Ross and Leisa and husband Rick; two aunts Violet and Barbara and husband John. Whether caring for his own family, the kids on the field, or the legions of “pool rats” and lifeguards, Coach could always be found with a smile.
Many people walk in and out of our lives but only true friends and family—like those of you who have supported us so much in this difficult time with your generosity, prayers, and love—have left footprints on our hearts.

Todd, Ryan, Courtney, Brady, and Nel,
I know there is nothing to be said to magically help you get over this. You have my utmost condolences and just want to let you know we all share in this loss. Coach and your family were always a huge part of my life. He was my first football and track coach. He was my first employer. He was ever-present in my childhood through swim. He was a influence on my musical taste and musical knowledge. And he was a second father figure at times in my life. He meant a lot to me, even though I got to see him very little in recent years. He made a huge impact on my life and will never be forgotten.
My heart goes out to each one of you and I will continue to pray for your peace of mind. I do not know what it is like to lose a father, but realize it must be catastrophic. I do know what it is like to deal with similar tragedy unexpectedly, and I can tell you with time, things do get better. I have no doubt he is watching over each one of you now, and you can find solace in the fact that you have a Guardian Angel, who will be there always.
Todd and Ryan, it was good to see you, even though the circumstances blow! I do not do Facebook, so if you ever want to catch up, shoot me an email, cmunroe9@gmail.com
Peace Be With Each of You,

Nell, Brady, Todd, Courtney and Ryan,
You have lost a husband and father and we have lost a great friend. We were so saddened by the news that we received today. We have been comforted by the wonderful memories of the three couples who grew up together in Tall Timbers in Dickinson. Our lives have been separated by distance for the last few years, but our love for our dear friends have remained close to our hearts. We shared so many "firsts" together. Our thoughts and prayers are there with you in Texas. We love you and trust that God will shelter you in His arms.
Forever Friends,
Jerry and Carolyn -

Dear Coffey Family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Your father/ husband was a wonderful man! He always looked out for so many of us and definitely cared for us as if we were his own. He always made of us aware that we were important and definitely checked us when we were in the wrong! He was an awesome man who I remember always had a wonderful sense of humor and watched out for us all! The spalshers and coming up to the neighborhood pool was always a found memory of mine. I loved to just sit around and talk with Coach Coffey primarily because he was always so willing to listen. I do really hope that God will easy your pain. All my love,

We are so sorry for your great loss. Gary was an awesome father
and husband. He always showed is love for all of you openly.
He was also a second dad to many many kids from Carriage Lane as
well as Cook Jr. and JV. He mentored many and helped alot of young
man and woman who today I am pretty sure could say if it wasn/t for Coach Coffey.. I ran into a young man today at Kroeger and he was
telling me how much Gary meant to him and helped in sports and school
at Cook. We have great memories of Carriage Lane Swim team with all
the kids and Gary busy helping and working during the whole time.
I wish I could remove your pain but I can't. I can only lift all of
you up in prayer. I know our loving God is holding each of you right
now and comforting you. Please know that anything you might need please
do not hestitae to call. We know you have your JV family but there are
many still left over here in Carriage Lane and surrounding that will do
anything for you guys.
