Barbara Ann (Buckner) Houston, 78, decided to leave her home in Houston, Texas to become an angel in heaven on Sunday, October 1, 2017.  She was born in Galveston, Texas on October 2, 1938.  Barbara joins her parents, Elmer Webster and Anna Elizabeth Buckner, in the angel business.

On November 2, 1957, she married the love of her life (and constant pain as she called him at times), Lee Thomas Houston at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.  They started their life together in Galveston where 3 of their children were born and then moved to Houston where the last one was born.  They shared many experiences together and we all learned cooking was not her forte; baking and gardening was.  She had an amazing garden in her backyard that she used child labor at times to maintain (we were told this was legal).  She doted on her children, grandchildren, children from another mother, and numerous fur babies.

Even though Barbara was on the short side (and yes, she passed her shortness on to some of her children - lucky us); she was everything you thought a 4'11" woman would be.  Barbara was ornery, fierce, protective, caring, funny, and most of all loving.

Barbara will be missed by all her knew her.  She is survived by her husband Lee Houston, children - Lee Houston Jr., Ann and son-in-law Jeronimo Lopez, Shari Houston, and Mitzi Houston, grandchildren - Michael Houston, Jerry Lopez, Deanna Lopez, Edward Lopez, Tina Lopez, Kevin Houston, and Benjamin Houston.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
