Bruce E. Horst, a much loved and adored husband, father, brother, and friend to anyone who needed one, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Houston, TX from a pulmonary embolism.

Born on January 9, 1967 in Chambersburg, PA, he spent his childhood there and demonstrated a strong affinity for technology from an early age. It was there he met his wife Jean, the love of his life, his partner in every sense of the word, to whom he was very happily married for 31 years.

Bruce and Jean moved to Texas as newlyweds where Bruce became a self-taught entrepreneur and remained  so for much of his life. He was always optimistic about the future and believed technology was making life better for everyone, and his businesses ran on that belief. No matter what job he worked, he always made sure he had time to make breakfast for his wife and children in the morning.

A gracious host, he could always be found gathering friends around a fire pit, grilling stuffed jalapeños and telling his favorite stories. Bruce Horst was always kind with his words, generous with his laughter, endless with his compassion, and most of all, fun to be around. Two of his personal mottos were “Life is Beautiful” and “Friends are Everywhere”. He lived those to the fullest.

Bruce always wanted a good nickname but could never make one stick. “Bruno” loved to drive his red Jeep Wrangler with the top down. He loved to have dinner with a view of the sunset, especially one over the Pacific ocean. Though most comfortable behind a computer screen, he was happiest visiting his three sons wherever their adventures took them. He was a devoted father. His boys were the pride of his life and he loved them fiercely. His greatest concern was that his family knew how much he loved them. He always looked for ways to make memories and savor the moments.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Jean, three sons: Zachary Horst and husband Taylor Kidd, AJ Horst and girlfriend Kaylie DeHart, and Nicholas Horst; sisters Barbara Peckman and Betsy Mose, and many other family members and friends. Bruce’s final years on this Earth were some of his happiest. He is sorely missed by many.

Our family would be honored to have you join us in celebrating Bruce’s life on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Rd Houston TX
