Donald Dean Bushong was born January 4th, 1930 in Diamondale, Michigan to Gladys Leora Rubenstein and Fay Andrew Bushong.
His early childhood was spent in Coldwater, Michigan until joining the military. Don moved to Texas with the Air Force where he was stationed at Ellington Field. This is where he met Wilma. It was in Texas where he became a Christian and then married Wilma Hassell in March of 1950 after being discharged in February. Don and Wilma raised two children in Fairbanks, Texas before building their dream home in Cypress. Texas.
Don was an active bowler and golfer and he retired from Cameron Iron Works at 54 years of age in 1984.
Don was an active member and Deacon of Metropolitan Baptist Church since 1984.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Wilma Hassell Bushong; daughter, Kay Bushong Reinecke and Larry; son, Steven Nelson Bushong and Jin; 4 grandchildren, Lori Bourgeois and Clay, Cheryl Stansel and Armand, Chris Reinecke and Bethany and Yuanyuan Wang; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Marlin Bushong; 2 sisters-in-law, Jeana Bushong and Maxine Baker; and many other nieces, nephews and family members and friends.
