Evelyn Amanda Arldt was one of seven children born to Ben and Bertha Arldt. She was born on June 20, 1925 in the farmhouse in Giddings, Texas, and baptized in Immanuel Lutheran Church on June 28th of that year by Rev. G. W. Fischer.  Evelyn was confirmed in the faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Serbin, Texas by Rev. Herman Schmidt.  Her confirmation verse was John 15:5 ( I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.)

Evelyn met Hebert Gloyna at Trinity Lutheran Church, Houston Texas.  They were married at Trinity by Rev. Oliver Harms on March 14, 1948.  God blessed their union with three children (Dennis, Karen, and Darrell), four grandchildren (Myrick, Chessy, Christopher, and Angela), and two great-grandchildren (John and James), and nearly 57 years together.

Evelyn grew up on the farm in Mannheim, Texas, near Giddings, helping her parents with the farming.  At 21, in 1948 she moved to Houston.  After her marriage she and Herbert lived in the house he built before they were married.  She was a housewife and self-employed in an ironing business for many faithful customers.  She loved to fish and learned to watch sports on television with Herbert.  She truly enjoyed attending high school football, volleyball, and soccer games, watching her grandchildren play.  In the last years, while living in a nursing home, she missed church, her plants, and her cat, Eeky.

Evelyn passed from this veil of tears and into the loving arms of our Lord last Wednesday, May 25th.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Bertha Arldt; her husband, Herbert; her son, Darrell; her brother, Edwin Arldt and his wife Doris; her sister, Ruby Kieschnick; and her sisters-in law, Margie Arldt and Sally Ardlt.

She is survived her son Dennis Gloyna and his wife Cindy;  her daughter, Karen Gloyna; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Gloyna; her sister Annie Mae Hengst and her husband Louis; her brothers, Herman Arldt and his wife Beverly; Fred Arldt; Milton Arldt; her grandchildren, Myrick Gloyna and his wife, Katie; Chessy Gloyna; Christopher Gloyna; and Angela Gloyna;  her great-grandchildren, John and James Gloyna; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as many friends.
