On  Thursday February 15, 2018 at 8:19am John Roy Endsley Jr. age 83 of Tomball Texas went to be with his Lord after many years of complications following a brain stem stroke.   He was at home with his wife and younger son by his side when he passed.

Born June 10, 1934 in Jackson, TN, he was the son of a College Professor and High School teacher in Henderson, TN.   The family later moved to Abilene, TX.   John later left home to work in the camera business moving from Charleston, SC to Atlanta, GA and New Orleans, LA.   He met his wife in New Orleans.  They married on February 28, 1970 and made a home in Houston, TX the next day.  He worked as the General Manager for Southwestern Camera for 23 years and retired from Houston Camera Exchange.   John’s gift was sales as he never met a stranger.   John was a shutterbug specializing in Leica cameras having a vast knowledge of various makes and models of cameras spanning decades.   He collected stamps and in 2005, he wrote a catalog on the obscurely collected Mexican Exporta series of stamps.   

  He survived by his wife of 47 years Elsie Schmidt Endsley,  his daughter in-law Karen Endsley Rodgers and her sons John Roy Endsley IV and Michael Allan Endsley,  his son August Knox Endsley Sr. and his wife Kelly Lynn Endsley and their children August Knox Endsley Jr. and Abigail Jean Endsley, Brother Albert Endsley and his wife Carolyn Endsley and their children, Sister Julia Anne Starling and her husband Jimmie Startling and their children. 

John was preceded in death by his parents John Roy Endsley Sr. and Lula Cummings Endsley,  his elder son John Roy Endsley III, as well as his in-laws August Bernard Schmidt and Lois May Schmidt, Uncle Jac Cummings, Aunt Neal Cummings, and a niece Sabrina Streckfus Daniel.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to Linda Salter for her years of dedication and loving care of John for over four years.   

 A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church 14225 Hargrave Rd. Houston, TX 77070 on Saturday February 24, 2018 at 11:00am in the sanctuary.
