Mary Evelyn Wright, age 60, of Magnolia, TX passed in peace on Thursday, October 19, 2017.

Mary was born in Victoria, TX to the late Lamar and Lillie Saunders. The family later relocated to the Houston Heights, where Mary grew up and graduated from Regan High School.  She worked in the IT field for many years until leaving to become a full-time homemaker.

Mary had many varied interests including crocheting, reading, sewing, traveling, hunting, dancing, and being an all-around pioneer woman.  She was especially fond of horses and spent many years riding with the Sam Houston Trail Ride Association (SHTRA) during Houston Rodeo Season.  In addition, she spent many years volunteering as a Leader with the local Boy Scouts Troop 41 in Tomball.  She adored getting all of the certifications to help teach her boys more varied and useful skill sets.  There was no topic you could bring up that Mary did not know something about.  She was a patriot and spent many hours annually placing wreaths/Flags at the cemetery to honor Veterans.  She adored her country.  She was also a long-time member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tomball.

Mary’s other love was her family.  She had a strong will, but a gentle touch.  She and her husband, Glen of 32 plus years, shared many memories together as they raised their family. She also devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother, Lillie.

Mary is survived by her husband, Glen Wright: daughter Lucy West and her husband David West: sons Luke Wright and Glen Wright, Jr. and his wife Lisa Wright; grandchildren Nieman, Christian, Haley, Trip, and Lillie; mother Lillie Saunders, brothers  Leland Saunders and wife Kathi Saunders and Thomas Saunders; sister Cindy Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, Lamar Saunders and brother, Charles Saunders.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 2:00-3:30pm at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home with a Rosary immediately following from 3:30-4:00pm.  A Celebration of Life officiated by Steve Allison will be held at 10:00am Monday also at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home.

Mary wanted to send a special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses who cared for her during her battle with cancer. A very special thank you to Mary’s sister Cindy Smith who took care of her in the end.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Military Embrace or the Tomball Pregnancy Center or the charity of your choice.
