Adelina Cecelia Clinkscales

Adelina was born on July 9,1921 and died August 16, 2019

Adelina was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and lived there until she was about eight when she moved to a boarding convent school in Kingston, Jamaica.  At the age of seventeen she immigrated to the United States with her older sister Beatrice.

She was a fun-loving, feisty, and strong-willed, woman.  Adelina was hard working all her life and left a good example for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She loved to dance and whistle.  She also loved to play the slot machines in Las Vegas and the slots loved her as she always won playing them. 

Adelina had a special gift with small children.  She owned a daycare for many years in California and working there was one of the joys of her life after her family.  Miss Addie, as the students called her, could calm, sooth and comfort any child with her smile and soft voice.  Her grandchildren will remember her for whistling and her greeting of “How do you do?” wherever and whenever she saw them.

She was proceeded in death by seventeen days by her husband of fifty-one years John Clinkscales. They had many happy loving years together creating lasting memories.  Surviving family members include her two daughters Clarice Franke and Cynthia Watts Mitchell, two step-daughters Karen and Greg Espinoza, Amy Clinkscales, four grandchildren Chris and Lisa Franke, Michelle and Michelle Chappell Franke, Deborah and Todd Speranzo, Kathrine Mitchell and five great- grandchildren Thomas Franke, Andrew Franke, Steven Franke, Rose Chappell Franke,  and Gabrielle Speranzo. She also has one surviving brother James Doughtery.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Heartis Cypress  and to the staff of Resolution Hospice who helped Miss Addie in her last days.

Adelina was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, and grandmother.  She will live on forever in our memories and hearts.  Farwell, Mom.
