Antonio C. Martinez, Jr. 

On the morning of July 1, 2020 Antonio C. Martinez Jr., loving husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 77. His last hours were spent in his home in Houston, TX and surrounded by family. 

Tony was born February of 1943 in Sandia, TX to Antonio, Sr. & Martina (Cornejo) Martinez. 

Raised on Knolle Ranch, he took on truck driving and made it a lifelong career. Driving 18-wheelers most of his life, he was given the trucking handle by which many knew him “Running Bear”. On Feb. 21, 1965 he married Rafaela Saenz Valadez. They shared their lives in marriage for 54 years. Together they raised three children in their Houston home. 

Tony was a loving and hard working man, who was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a provider, a supporter, and made sure no one he loved lacked anything. He enjoyed music, dancing and making people laugh. He taught his family the value of hard work and exemplified it daily. 

Tony was preceded in death by his father and his mother and several siblings. He is survived by his wife Rafaela, and four children, Blanca Gonzales, Rolando Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Rosalinda Reyes and his brother Marcos Martinez as well as 13 Grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren.
