Funeral mass for Bernard Patrick Hasara will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Conroe, Texas, at 1 pm Saturday, February 1, 2020. The Rosary will be recited one hour prior for anyone who would like to participate. A reception will be held afterwards at the church.
Bernie was born March 16, 1943 in Portsmouth, Virginia, and went Home to the Lord January 17, 2020 after a lengthy illness in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, John Edward Hasara; his mother, Leocadia Gizara Hasara; his brother, Gerald Lawrence Hasara; and his sister-in-law, Paula Ainsworth Hasara.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Katheryn Holiman Hasara; daughter Susan Hasara, daughter Sandy Hasara Burrow and son-in-law Darrell Burrow; foster daughter Christy Stone Bunch; brother Jack Hasara; sister Lois Hasara Friddell and brother-in-law Roy Friddell; brother Alan Hasara; brother Kenneth Hasara and sister-in-law Patsy Hasara; brother James Hasara and sister-in-law Vonnie Hasara; grandchildren Jayson Hofferek, Rylan Hofferek, Aubrey Burrow, Logan Burrow, Dillan Burrow, his wife Jenna Burrow, great-granddaughter Lyla Jo Burrow; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Besides working diligently at several careers in his lifetime to support his family, Bernie served as alter boy and years later as a Eucharistic minister for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe, and the past few years as an acolyte for St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tomball. He also sponsored two young women into the Catholic Church at Sacred Heart; one of them is parishioner and faithful servant of the Lord, Mary Otto.
