Brett Michael Guthridge

Brett Michael Guthridge passed away of natural causes on November 17, 2020 in Houston, Texas.   He is survived by his loving husband Steven Harvey, mother Patricia Colvin Guthridge, father and step-mother Phillip Bruce and Marguerite Guthridge, and brother Scott Guthridge.

Brett was born December 10, 1967 in Huntsville, Alabama.  He was 52.

At an early age he became a lover of all things science fiction.   He was a kind and caring person, highly intelligent, with a quirky sense of humor.  While in high school, Brett earned his Eagle Scout ranking and became a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was also a high skilled swimmer and successfully competed in local events.

Brett graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management, but after a few years in the industry he determined that he preferred to NOT work nights and weekends.  He then successfully pursued a career in computer science, being a manager of computer application development at the time of his passing.  (Little did he know, he would still be working nights and weekends.)

Brett enjoyed his opportunity to travel the world when his father was assigned overseas. During his high school and college years, he had extended visits to Sydney Australia, Cape Town South Africa and Southampton England. As part of his completion of college, he took a 30 day rail pass, backpack excursion throughout much of Europe including an extended visit to the Republic of Ireland. Ireland was always one of his most memorable visits.

Due to Covid-19, no service has been held.   His ashes will be interred at a family service in Louisiana at a later date.
