Carlin "Chick" Nightingale was born August 28,1937 in Weymouth, MA and passed away on December 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. In 1966 Chick and Janet were married and less than a year later in 1967, Chick received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University as well as a promising employment opportunity in Tripoli, Libya. It was in Tripoli that Chick and Janet developed their love of Arabian horses and upon their return to the United States, together with Janet's parents Ray and Phyllis, they purchased several acres of land in Lisbon, NH. Galammonoosuc Farms was the birthplace of many fine Arabian horses, cattle and Doberman Pinschers. We would be remiss if we failed to mention the many wonderful memories and friendships that were created and fostered there.
Never one to sit idly by, Chick was a member of the Lisbon Police Dept. as well as the Grafton County Sheriff's Dept. He also served as President of the New Hampshire Arabian Horse Association and upon his relocation to Houston, became a lifetime member of Houston 's Livestock and Rodeo Cutting Horse Committee.
Chick and Janet moved to Mansfield in 1981 and then relocated to Houston, TX for their final move in 1986. In 1987 Chick went to work for Ameriprise as a Financial Planner and worked full time until 2010 when he semi-retired and was retained as a consultant until October 2018.
Chick loved his family and friends. He was especially proud of his children and their accomplishments; military service and golf pro. As we all know Chick had a tremendous work ethic which he passed onto all of them. He enjoyed playing golf, darts, horseshoes and a challenging game of cribbage. He loved New England fried clams, ice cream, a good VO and ginger and his pal; Bear. Chick was a huge sports fan enjoying the Boston Red Sox, the Pats, the Houston Astros and the Texans.
Chick was preceeded in death by his parents Carlin and Irene Nightingale and his brother Wayne Nightingale.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 52 years, Janet; children Debra, Mark and his wife Donna, Eric and his wife Lee and Craig and his wife Lisa; grandchildren Dama', Alya, Laila, Joey, Gacoby, Brianna, MacKenzie and Luke; one great grandchild Jacori; and brother Lee and his wife Judy.
