Carmen Laurent Salas Marchetti

Carmen (Beby) Laurent Salas Marchetti, a long-time resident of Houston, TX was called home by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

Carmen was born June 4th 1962 in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Opportunity for a better life beckoned and she moved to Florida in 1989. A few years later, Carmen moved to Houston. She graduated from Colegio Madre Vicenta Uboldi in 1977 and earned her Master’s Degree in Business from University of Houston in the 1990s.

Carmen spent over 30 years in the Commercial Janitorial Cleaning industry working for Compaq, ABS, Conoco, KBR and Halliburton. She also ran a successful company of her own called CMW Cleaning Services which she named after her children.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and mentor. Carmen’s true pride and joy were her beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed spending as much time with them in person or by FaceTime with those in Bolivia.

Carmen always put others before herself. She was loved immensely by everyone who knew her and projected warmth, joy, and kindness to all. She was a devoted Christian with a deep faith in God.

Carmen loved to laugh, dance, listen to music, and travel. Her favorite trips were those by the ocean. She headed to the water every chance she could. Carmen was an advocate for rescuing cats. She was the proud owner and momma to Winchester, Shotgun, Charlie, Linda, and Lucky.

Carmen is survived by her daughter Michelle Laurent Ramsey and two sons Walter Pablo Landivar Salas, Cesar Raul Monasterio Salas; brothers Victor (Kin) Joaquin Salas Marchetti, Marcelo Alberto Salas Marchetti, Antonio (Antuco) Salas Marchetti, and sister Rita (Gringa) Elizabeth Salas Marchetti. Her grandchildren Andrew (Andy) Paul Rodriguez, Noah Bryan Bazaldua, Alejandra Maria Landivar Saavedra, Walter Alejandro Landivar Saavedra, Cesar Luis Monasterio Oliveira, Cesar Monasterio Jaldin, and Victoria Monasterio Jaldin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Carmen was preceded in death by her father Mamerto Salas Zambrana; mother Zorah Marchetti Alvarez; sister Maria Lourdes Salas Marchetti.

A memorial service to celebrate Carmen’s life will take place February 12, 2021 at 4pm until 8pm, prayer will begin at 7pm at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home. The address is 9926 Jones Road, Houston, Texas 77065.

Our family finds peace in knowing we will see her again as she has fulfilled her purpose on earth. May you take comfort in the knowledge that she was welcomed into Heaven with opened arms. Her contagious spirit and tender nature will always be remembered.
