Charles Glen Risinger

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Glen Risinger announces his passing on Friday, June 2, 2023, after a short illness at the age of 53.

Charles (aka: Charlie and later Grandpa Charlie) was a caring son, brother, father, and grandfather, born on June 12, 1969, in Pasadena, Texas, to Jeffie Risinger and Linda Batson Risinger. He was raised in Deer Park, Texas, where he graduated from Deer Park High School, Class of 1987. 

After high school, he worked many maintenance jobs and later as a diesel mechanic providing for his growing family. His children couldn’t tell you exactly what he did for a living, but they knew he could fix anything! Cars, TV remotes and everything in between. As his children grew into young adults, he was just a call away if they needed anything.

Anyone who met Charles would tell you he had a sharp wit and keen sense of humor that kept you laughing and sometimes even went over your head.  Charles loved oldies rock and roll, oldies country music, NASCAR, football and, of course, the Houston Astros! Over the years, he was very involved in his children’s sports activities and spent most weekends on the ball fields when his children were young. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play their sport of choice. He also had a knack for cooking.  He would make homemade sloppy joes and the family favorite “yum yum” cake for family get-togethers. 

He will be greatly missed by all of those close to him.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Batson Risinger, and his father, Jeffie Roland Risinger; his four children, Jacob Risinger, Gavin Risinger, Garrett Risinger, Vanessa Lunday, and his three grandchildren Allyson Guidry, Lyla Lunday and Oliver Lunday; his sister, Brenda Ladkani, her husband, Ernest Ladkani, and nephew William Ladkani; his ex-wife, Juanita Risinger, as well as an extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins. 

Charles is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Norma Batson and Olive Risinger; grandfathers, LB Batson and Ollie Risinger; and his cousins, Mark Pippin and Rachel Risinger.
