Tribute

Charles “Chuck” L. Thompson, age 96, died on Monday, August 26, 2019, at the HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress Hospital in Cypress surrounded by his family.  He was born in Columbia, Mississippi to Jessie and Fleta (Bass) Thompson and was the oldest of two children.  After graduating from Forest Hill High School in 1940, Chuck proudly served this country during World War II with the 593rd Army Air Force Base Unit.  After being honorable discharged from the US Army in 1945, he went on to be a disc jockey in his heyday in Mobile, Alabama, a real estate agent in the Houston area, a charming poet, and a devout Catholic who went on a cruise when he was 90 years old.  He will be forever remembered for his strong Irish pride and his love for Baileys Irish Cream.

He will be lovingly missed by his daughter, Annette (Scott) Berry, who was his primary caregiver for the last seven years, and sister Jackie (Regan) of Columbia, Mississippi.  Chuck will also be fondly missed by his six grandchildren, Clay, Jonathan, Jason, Travis, Heather, and Jeremy, and five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ethan, Zachary, Olivia Rose, and Heath.  He was predeceased by his parents, wife Joan (St. Amant), and two daughters, Joan (Mike) Dixon and Monica (Michael) Johnson.
