Cheryl Anne West

Cheryl Anne Powers West, 75, of Houston, Texas, passed away November 3, 2022.  She was the first born to J. Truett Powers and Mindy Powers Gorrono on August 19, 1947, in Waco, Texas.  She was a special education teacher and a special education diagnostician for over 40 years. 

Cheryl was very involved at Furr High School in the Speech and Drama Clubs where she was in all the school plays with leading roles.  She was in the A Capella Choir, the song leader for the Christian Student Union, and enjoyed being in the French Club.  Cheryl graduated from Houston Baptist College where she excelled in Voice and Piano minor with a special education major.   

She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and most of all she loved her two sons and grandson and helping them. 

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Truett Powers and Mindy Gorrono.

She is survived by sons; David West, Michael West, grandson, Luka West, brother; Howard Powers, sister; Barbara Powers Kellett and husband, Steve Kellett, sister; Donna Powers Spivey, 5 nieces, 4 nephews, 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
