Sergeant First Class, Cipriano Aquilo Astorga, better known as Cid, US Army Retired, was born on January 4, 1933, in Sugar Land, Texas. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2020, in Houston, Texas at the age of 87. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Cid married Consuelo Astorga in 1957 and they were married for 59 years until her death.
He is survived by his five children – Alice Reese, Albert Astorga, Julia Astorga-Back and husband Richard, Verna Garcia and husband Julio, André Astorga and wife Sue.
Grandchildren – Rhiannon Root and husband Charlie, Christine Medina and husband Lupe, Elijah Reese and wife Elizabeth, Justin Garcia and wife Claudia, Ashley Reese, Ariel Holder and husband Matthew, Alex Garcia, Erik Astorga and wife Destiny, and Aubrey Back.
Great-grandchildren – Eric Rocha, Aaron Rocha, Sabrina Ortiz, Jayden Ramirez, Adam Holder, Evangelina Reese, Zoey Holder, Zachary Medina, Samantha Reese, Scarlett Medina, Joseph Reese, Savannah Root, and Violet Astorga.
Brother Jesse Estorga, and sister Maria Randle, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco “Frank” and Marcelina Estorga. Brothers, Julian Estorga and Frank Estorga. Sisters, Virginia Hubert, Marcelina Cordova, Alice Cordova, and Manuela Williams.
Cid retired from the Army after 21 years of service. Upon his retirement from the Army he worked at TRW Mission until retiring from there. He was a scratch golfer, a great craftsman, and loved traveling. He was a devoted reader of the Houston Chronicle.
Visitation is Thursday, July 16th, at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home from 4pm-8pm.
As a Military Veteran he will be buried at the Houston National Cemetery on Friday July 17th at 11:00am.
