Clifford Ben Wolf, chemical engineer, singer, hunter, fisherman, and servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2021. He was surrounded by family and is now safe in the arms of Jesus.
Cliff was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on January 11, 1937 to James Wesley Wolf and Dorothea Evans Wolf, the oldest of three sons. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1955, second in his class. He also played on the football and basketball teams. He went on to attend Iowa State University majoring in chemical engineering, and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, followed by service in the US Army.
Cliff began his career on the East coast, working for Allied Chemical and then accepted a position at Occidental Chemical in Pomona, California. Longing for a move back to the Midwest, he started a job at American Salt Corporation in Lyons, Kansas as a plant manager. From there, a new opportunity arose to move to Houston, Texas to manage a plant for United Salt Corporation. He later finished his career and retired from DeMar Engineering in Houston.
In 1968, he rediscovered his high school sweetheart, Janice, and they were married soon after. From their happy union came twins, Todd and Lisa, and four years later, another son, David. His children are one of his greatest joys and will always remember him as a devoted Dad who never missed an activity. To this day, he is known as “coach” to many! He continued to attend as many activities as possible with his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.
One of Cliff’s greatest joys was his service to the Lord. He served in music ministry, as Board Chairman, and as an Elder in various churches throughout his adult life. He also sang in the Houston Choral Society for several years. Singing and worship were one of his greatest passions! He was a member of Open Door Christian Church in Northwest Houston.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Jan Wolf, son Todd (Ruth), daughter Lisa Mullins (Jim), and son David (Michelle); grandchildren, Elena, Allie, Sofia, and Joseph Wolf, Blake and Bryce Mullins, and Adam and William Wolf; brothers, James Wolf (Phyllis) and Gerald Wolf (Linda); numerous nieces and nephews.
