Obituary
Corey Lennard Thompson Jr., age 17, departed this life on March 20, 2021. But, his light, laughter and legacy will continue to live on through the lives of those he loved, touched and inspired.
Corey affectionately known to his family as “Me Daddy” was born on April 4, 2003 in Austin, Texas to April Chevon Wright and Corey Lennard Thompson Sr. He entered the world surrounded by love – and brought a “light” into every room that he entered.
Corey attended Epps Elementary School, Dean and Arnold Middle School, Cy-Fair Senior High School and had plans to attend one of the Historically Black Colleges/Universities (HBCU) to receive a degree in Engineering. He was employed by Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park. He was an extremely talented athlete who excelled in basketball, football and received numerous awards. He loved to dance, hang out with family and friends and make people laugh. He had a heart for those less fortunate and often defended those who were bullied. Corey was “good trouble.”
Corey was preceded in death by his grandmother Marjorie Ann Newton of Luling, Texas.
He is survived by his mother, April Wright of Houston, Texas; his father, Corey Thompson Sr. of Austin, Texas, his sister, Torrie Wright of Houston, his brother, Tiahgeek Thompson of Austin, Maternal Grandmother, Tony Guillory of Austin, Maternal Grandfather, Rodney Wagner of Houston, Paternal Grandmother, Beverly Thompson of Austin; Paternal Grandfather, Tommy Winn; Paternal Great Grandmother Gladys Durham, his Aunts, Bridggette Wright and Tarra Wright Williams of Austin; Nicole Griffin of Houston; Tara Carter and Trishon Ramsey, his uncles Cody Ezi, Cedric Williams, Adrian Thompson and Kerry Carter along with a hosts of cousins and friends that loved and adored him.
Funeral services will be held at Cypress United Methodist Church located at 13403 Cypress North Houston Road, Cypress, Texas 77429 on Thursday, April 8 at 3pm.
