Crisoforo Ramirez was called home by our Heavenly Father on January 15, 2021. He was loved and a special man to many. Crisoforo is preceded in death by his beloved son Rolando C. Ramirez, his parents Martina Martinez & Julio Escalante Ramirez, his sisters Francisca Mejia & Gloria Rosales of Weslaco and Maria Louisa Aguilar of Houston and his son-in-law’s Joseph Matthew Bolton & Edward Wayne Johnston. He is survived by his wife Ora Lee Ramirez, his daughter Rosa Bolton, his daughter Charlie McKaskle & her husband Jimmy McKaskle, his daughter Renee Ramirez, his daughter Raeanne Ramirez and his daughter Marie Crisostomo & her husband Alvin Crisostomo; Grandchildren Jamie McKaskle, Matthew Bolton, Johnathan & Marissa Ramirez, Jaelin & Donavin Crisostomo, Lana & Tommy Hermis; Great-grandchildren Adrian, Desiree & Megan Cervantes, Lacie Kimich, Juvia Ramirez and great-great grandson Jayce Slaughter. His brother Patricio Ramirez & his wife Maria and his sister Victoria Sánchez & her husband Samuel of Weslaco; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Collectively, by those he leaves behind, he will be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Father- in-Law, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Great-Great Grandfather; a beloved Brother and Brother-in-Law; a favorite Uncle; and a kind friend.
He was a man of firm beliefs, a hard worker, a provider to his family, and a man of many talents. At the age of 27, he moved to Houston, following his older sister to seek better job opportunities. He worked in a coffee mill, an ice plant, and eventually found his way to SCS Machine & Fabricating where he worked for 50 years. He came to be known as “Chico” by his work family; Mike Chirpich, Betty Downey, Arthur “DP” Garcia, Demetrio & Simon and countless others. Here he found his niche as a welder and spent the rest of his life making himself indispensable to the company and in time becoming a shareholder. Crisoforo retired at the age of 82.
If you stopped by his house to visit, most days he could be found walking around the neighborhood, sitting out back, fixing or “unfixing” a lawnmower, making his tools “better”, or working in the yard. Crisoforo was a forward-looking man, he never let life’s challenges or limitations keep him from making a better life for his family. He was an honest and honorable man. Our memories, those cherished moments are forever engrained in our minds and he is forever in our hearts. We honor the man that he was and pray for his soul as he journeys home to join his parents, his sisters, and his son in God’s Kingdom…Your Wings were ready but our Hearts were not.
