David “Katfish” S. Russell made his final ride on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 68. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, friend and mentor. He was born to Wendell and Betty (Shelton) Russell, on February 25, 1955 in Cisco, Texas.
David spent his early years growing up in Libya while his father worked in the oil and gas industry, and the family relocated to the Houston area in 1970. David finished his schooling in the Houston area were he attended West Chester High School. After his studies, he moved onto raising his family and working as a heavy equipment operator all around Texas and New Mexico locations. He then went on to be a broker in the transportation industry – helping everyone he knew to get where they needed to go. If you were on time, you were late in his book. It was not uncommon to get a call about the route you were taking, upcoming traffic you might encounter, or what the weather might be. Katfish was a member of the Bikers Against Child Abuse, B.A.C.A., for close to 18 years it was a cause that was dear to his heart. He held the office of Vice-President at the time of his passing. He, “Gracie”, brothers, and sister of the Chapter would set out sharing with all they encountered about the cause.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving son, David and his wife Kristine; granddaughters Aubree and Hailee; daughter Virginia "Ginger" Russell; three grandsons; Sister Polly Bihm and husband David Bihm; niece Katy Farr; nephews Taylor and Jeresin, and his companion Barbara Black; and his B.A.C.A. Cypress Chapter Brothers and Sisters.
David was preceded in death by his parents Wendell H. Russell, and Betty V. Russell; brother Terry Wells; and sister Cindy Farr.
He is gone but never forgotten, leaving his loving memories and long speeches in our hearts forever.
