Donald Willis Scott, Jr.

Don Willis Scott Jr., 58, of Houston, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. He was born in Freeport to Donald Willis Scott Sr., and wife Danielle.

Don is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 32 years Barbara Scott; son Kelly Scott; sisters Leslie Ballis and Donna Adison; brother Glen Scott; step-brothers David, Bruce and Brian Schuett; step-sister Dawn Oliver and numerous nieces and nephews.

For most of Don’s career he was in Information Technology where he worked for Gulf Oil, Chevron and DHL, as a Data Center Manager for many years.  He was also a Sales Manager for Tomball Homes. Don was an active member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.

Don enjoyed life and tried to live it to the fullest as best as he could.  He had many hobbies, some of which included his passion for golf; if he could he would be on the golf course a couple times a week. He loved to barbeque and smoke ribs, brisket and chicken on his pit. Don enjoyed being outdoors whether it was listening to the crickets chirping on a camping trip, a day at the beach flying kites or lying back in a lawn chair fishing peacefully. A typical evening for Don may have been filled with swimming, softball; he grew up playing baseball and was a coach for his son’s team; or a competitive game of pool and darts. In his free time he flew remote controlled helicopters or worked building desktop computers. He loved listening to music and going to concerts; a couple of his favorites are Tom Petty, Phil Collins, REO Speedwagon, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney and Chicago. Don was a big sports fan which means he was one of many people happy to see the Astros win the World Series, he also enjoyed watching the Texans and Rockets play. When he would get the occasional sweet tooth; peach cobbler, carrot cake and lemon meringue pie were his go to snacks. We will remember Don for his great sense of humor and the complements he always gave.
