Eric Foster, loving husband to his wife Theresa (Terri) Foster, proud father of his daughter, Jessica and grandchildren, Raelynn, Jayden & Jasmin, brother to Tony (Julie) and Steven (Brenda) passed away on September 28, 2020.
Eric was born April 5, 1950 in Baildon, West Yorkshire England to Cyril and Dorothy Foster. Eric graduated with a BSc (Honors) in Geology, from the University of London. Starting as a geologist in field operations with Core Laboratories in the US, South America, North Sea, Trinidad and Mexico, he then worked as a training instructor and coordinator for worldwide operations at Core Laboratories in Dallas and subsequently moved to Calgary as Manager, Geological Operations. Eric held a role of Geoscience Technical Advisor with PetroSkills-OGCI based in Houston. He had 40 years of operations and management experience in the oil and gas industry.
He was nominated for the Distinguished Lecturer award. he is a registered Professional Geologist and is a member of APEGGA, AAPG, SPE, HGS and SPWLA. He served as Publications Chairman and on symposium committees for the CWLS.
Eric spent ten years with Calgary Bobsled Club and Alberta Bobsleigh Association as an active slider, coach, director; and was an early supporter for women’s and junior bobsled program.
Eric’s world travels took him to many places; however, he most enjoyed the sunsets in Maui and watching the fighter jets take off & land in North Island San Diego.
