Gary Patrick Hennessey

Gary Patrick Hennessey, 66, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife and surrounded by friends and family. After a long illness, Gary joined our Lord on Sunday, May 1st, 2022 in Houston, Texas.  

Gary was born in Big Springs, Texas at Webb Air Force Base on February 14th, 1956. He spent most of his youth in Odessa Texas where he graduated from The Odessa High School in 1973. He also attended Odessa College where he was the mascot – the OC Wrangler. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and served as an altar boy.

A fourth-generation oil and gas professional, Gary was well respected in his career and was afforded the opportunity to travel the world. He retired from his last assignment for National Oilwell Varco (NOV) in Dubai, UAE. Prior to that, he spent more than 10 years in Macae, Brazil where he met the love of his life, Mônica Pereira da Silva.

He was an avid sportsman who was proud of his single-digit handicap in golf. A good hunter, he enjoyed grilling the venison, dove and occasional wild turkey he landed for the family.

He became a father in January 1978, to Chad Patrick Hennessey followed by Brandon Lee Hennessey in July 1979, and Emily Kay Silva Hennessey in May 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Mônica Pereira da Silva Hennessey and their daughter, Emily Kay Silva Hennessey of Katy, Texas; son, Chad Patrick Hennessey and wife, Jamie, and grandson, Caleb of Georgetown, Texas; son, Brandon Lee Hennessey, wife, Ginger, granddaughter Alexis and grandson, Noah of St Augustine, Florida.

He is also survived by his mother, Betty L. Hennessey of Odessa, Texas; brother, Monty and wife, Kristi, of Midland; sisters, Kathleen H. Mohn of Humble, Texas and Mary Horrell of Temple, Texas. Additionally, his brother-in-law, Marcos Goulart and wife, Nicolly, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his younger sister, Linda Kay Hennessey, in April 2014. 

The Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at the Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home located at 9926 Jones Road, Houston, TX 77065.
