Gary Leslie Niemand

On Sunday, February 9th, 2020, Gary Niemand, loving husband and father of a son, passed away at the age of 54. 

Gary was born on June 14th, 1965 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, son of Albert and Pam Niemand.  After high school Gary served in the South African Army for two years.  He received degrees in Tool Making, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, SA.  After graduation Gary started working at Volkswagen, Ford, Delta and Formex Engineering as a Production Manager.  In 2009 Gary and his family immigrated to the United States where he accepted a position as a Maintenance Systems Manager with Montauk Energy Holdings.  He proudly became a US Citizen during September 2016.  Gary had a passion for golfing. His other hobbies included rugby, cricket, fishing, tennis and squash.  Gary was a tremendous athlete.  He was known for his competitiveness on any sports turf.  He was also known for his kind heart which he used to help animals and people in need.  

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Albert and his mother, Pam.  He is survived by his wife, Santie and his son, Zane; three brothers, one sister, three bothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law and several other family members.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 21st, 2020 at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home at 2pm.
