George Baumanis, age 89, passed away on April 28,2020 near his home in Houston,Tx.
He was born in Latvia in 1931 to his parents, Janis and Alexandra and escaped during WWll with his family and ultimately arrived in Venezuela in 1948.
He was sent by his company for training in Puerto Rico where he met his beloved wife of 66 years, Aida (Diaz) and had 3 children, Georgie (Sherry), Rosa Maria (Terry) and Johnny (Odette).
George went from being Papi, Papito and Papa to being Ito once he became a grandfather. His 10 grandchildren loved him and his “Itoisms” very deeply- Alexandra, Michael, William, Brian, Blake, Carolina, Catherine, John A, Jacky and Ian.
Ito also leaves 4 great grandchildren- Emmie, Stephen, Savannah and Harrison, 6 nieces and nephews and
his much loved younger sister, his “hermanita” Marija (Owen). He joins his parents, sister Irene (Ermenegildo) and brother Andres (Beatriz) in the Lord’s home in heaven.
Ito was known for his incredible physical strength, soft gentle voice, work ethic, his intellect and his extraordinary cooking skills.
A humble spirit who looked to adapt to whatever life’s circumstances presented, he loved his family and being in his home. Most of all, he loved his Aida... especially when she would hug him and kiss him as she said to him “ Mi pocoton de azucar” (my lump of sugar).
George, Papi, Papito, Papa, Ito... you will live in our hearts forever!
