George K Bowers
December 25, 1949 – October 9. 2019
George was a very quiet, kind, and unassuming man. Disciplined and strong-willed, he never let any obstacles define his course... even to the end.
He was known for over analyzing every detail of a purchase. He’d let you know which product was the best on the market, but you had to “wait on it” because his kind of thorough analysis took time.
He was born Christmas Day 1949 to parents George & Beatrice Bowers and was raised in Beaumont TX with his sisters Peggy & Patricia. The Bowers were a very tight-knit family and George Loved and Adored his nieces Lisa Michelle & Kelley and nephews Mark Leo, Darrel James “DJ”, and great nephew Myles.
George graduated in 1968 from the historic Charlton-Pollard High School then studied drafting at Lamar Junior College. He moved to Houston, TX and worked as a Senior Engineering Draftsman for over 40 years and was highly respected amongst his peers for his skill and reputation of being a man of integrity. He retired in 2015 from EDG Engineering.
In 1985 he met his wife Nannell and her son Gerald. Their Love story is one of George’s epic pursuits… Best Love Story EVER! They married September 5, 1992, and just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary last month with their son Gerald and his wife Amelia and Granddaughters Nora & Josephine “JoJo”. His grandbabies were the Joy of his life!
What a good life filled with Family and Friends. From Thanksgiving celebrations with Mama Arrington and the Alabama family, spending Christmas with Gerald’s family in Austin, to simple daily meals at the kitchen table with Nannell. To the end he required us to be the best, pursue our dreams and to “take care of business”. We love you George and will never forget your constant support, protection and Love for us. We are grateful for our lives together.
