George Richard Stanley

George Richard Stanley, born September 14, 1945 passed peacefully with family by his side the morning of December 28, 2018.   George was a native Houstonian, served in the National Guard and was the  youngest son of Harry and Wada Faye Stanley.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father and brother Harry Stanley.  George’s life was marked by his love of Carolyn Votes Stanley, his wife of 51 years.  Carolyn was his best friend, companion and love.  Together they had two daughters, Georgina Stanley McCorkle and husband Scott McCorkle and Victoria Stanley Cedillo and husband Lawrence Cedillo.  And grandchildren Kathryn McCorkle, Pierce Cedillo and Holt Cedillo.  He is also survived by his sister Sallie Stanley Carter and sister in-law Sharon Stanley and numerous nieces & nephews.  George was a pipefitter with Local 211, WWII history buff, loved hunting and the outdoors.  His hobbies included re-enacting with 6th Cav, Military Vehicle Club, Houston Gun Club, Tomball Gun Club, the Men’s Sunday Class at The Met Church and spending time with his grandchildren.  This past year he grew close to the Lord and was deeply impacted by the ministry of Charles Stanley.

His family wishes special thanks to the medical teams of Houston Methodist, Dialyspa and Silverado Hospice for providing him with the best quality of life through diabetes and end stage renal disease and special thanks to his many friends and family that support him and his family over the past years.
