Guillermo "Willie" Vasquez, 67, passed away Monday morning, February 24, 2020 at Houston Methodist hospital in the company of his six children and loving wife due to complications from triple bypass surgery.
Willie was born in 1952 in San Benito,TX. He was raised by his Uncle Ruben, Aunt Isabella and Aunt Toni Moreno in Galveston, TX. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Lamar University.
Willie enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He loved good music and spoiling his grandkids. His generosity and support for his loved ones and friends was endless. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa. Willie was the patriarch of the Vasquez family and he made sure anyone who entered his home was accommodated, "whatever y'all want" he would always say.
The amount of love in his heart brought warmth to those around him. Willie was a strong influence on his children, demonstrating to them the importance of fighting for what they love and believe in. Indeed, he fought hard until the very end. His laughter brought sunshine, joy and comfort to his family even in the darkest of times. Willie was proud of each of his children, wanting them all to know just how much he loved them. Willie will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Maria Antonia Vasquez (Gonzalez); his daughters Jazmin Gonzalez and Janet Nevarez; his sons Ernesto Vasquez, Emmanuel Vasquez, Guillermo Vasquez, and Ruben Vasquez; his son-in-laws, daughter-in-laws and his many grandchildren, all of whom brought so much happiness into his life. He is also survived by his sisters Graciela, Rita, Denise and brother Charlie.
Guillermo was preceded in death by his grandma Minga Moreno, his mother Esther Simpson, Aunt Toni Moreno Uncle Ruben and Aunt Chavela Moreno. His brother Jimbo, his sisters Tina, Debbie and his grandson Sean Michael Gonzales, who he loved and missed very much. Guillermo will be laid to rest next to Sean.
The viewing will be open to the public at 6pm until 9pm Friday February 28, 2020. Rosary will be held for him at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home 9926 Jones Rd, Houston, TX 77065 on the evening of Friday February 28, 2020 at 7:00 PM. His funeral will be at 10am on Saturday February 29, 2020.
Guillermo's final resting place will be at Carmen Nelson Bostick Cemetery (A Garden of God) 12317 Holderrieth Rd, Tomball, TX 77375.
