Helen A Svetaka

May 15, 1926 ~ July 21, 2020 (age 94)

Helen A. Svetaka made her transition on July 21, 2020 after an adventurous and joyous life of 94 years. She was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Tomball, Texas.

She was born May 15, 1926 in Erving, Massachusetts.. Helen was the daughter of Joseph Lapinski and Mary T. Podosek. She married her husband Vincent A. Svetaka  on April 10, 1948 who preceded her in death on December 13, 1970.

She is survived by her brother John Lapinski of Turners Falls, MA and her three children Michael V. Svetaka of W. Dummerston, VT,  Marjorie Carpenter of Spring, TX, Karen Svetaka of Houston, TX, daughter-in-laws Celia Jane Svetaka and Peggy Nan Moore. Her extended survivors include three grandchildren Jeremy Svetaka, Jamie Svetaka, Peter Svetaka and wife Crystal and great grandson Shane Michael, along with several nieces and nephews.

Helen loved her family and friends. She read voraciously and always had the library line her up with books that she found interesting. Helen enjoyed playing dominoes, bridge, Mah-Jong  and other parlor games of fun and competition. She also loved her animal companions , especially Ms. Kitty and volunteered at animal shelters.  Purple was Helen’s favorite color. She found joy wearing the color purple wherever she traveled. Her adventurous spirit led her traveling to many places over the years. She had many stories to share with us. We will miss Helen and her stories.

In remembrance of the life of Helen Svetaka, the family has requested that remembrances can also be made in the form of contributions to St. Joseph Indian School stjo.org or Abandoned Animal Rescue aartexas.org
