Henry Nelford Gregory, Jr. of Cypress, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at 73 years of age. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on January 17, 1948. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Henry retired from the City of Houston after a long career in the Public Works and Engineering Department.
In his high school and college years, Henry held a number of interesting jobs in the Port Arthur area, including pinsetter at Park Place Lanes, ad inserter at The Port Arthur News, and ambulance driver for Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home.
Henry was a devoted father, who loved coaching his sons’ soccer teams, winning many championships along the way. In his spare time, he enjoyed saltwater fishing and golfing.
He was preceded in death by grandson Noah Gregory and mother Frances Williamson Gregory.
Henry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois Brown Gregory; sons and daughters-in-law Chris and Sue Gregory, and Ryan and Samantha Gregory, all of Cypress, Texas; grandsons Alexander, Nicolas, Dominic and Anderson; and granddaughter Quinn. Henry is also survived by his father Henry Gregory Sr.; sister Eileen Preston and husband Michael; brothers Allen Gregory, Larry Gregory, and Mark Gregory and wife Elisa; and sister-in-law Becky Brown Gregory and husband Wayne.
