Jackie Elaine Barrett Andersen, 81, of Houston, TX, passed away on July 16, 2021, after a long illness.
She was born in Lufkin, TX, on November 21, 1939, daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Barrett. She was a loving wife, doting mother, and an immensely proud grandmother. She was an active charter member at Messiah Lutheran Church – singing in the choir for many years and participating and heading up several outreach groups including Lutheran Helping Hands, Caring Hearts and Helping Hands and the hospital chaplaincy program. She was a favorite at Bear Creek United Methodist Church’s Annual Women’s Retreats and the Young at Hearts social group.
She was a woman of many talents including cooking, baking, playing the piano, singing and dancing when her favorite songs came on the radio, beating everyone in the room at Wheel of Fortune and whistling so that everyone in the next town over could hear. She had a fun, zany sense of humor that tickled everyone and brought smiles all around. She never met a stranger and was loved by the neighbors and all her friends, both old and new.
She is survived by Paul, her husband and best friend of 62 years; son Brad and wife Corinne; son Vaughn; and daughter Beth; her loving grandchildren, Vaughn II, Becca, Sarah, and Preston. She is also survived by her older brother, James and wife Valerie; sister Becky and husband Larry; brother George and wife Becky; Laurie (wife of brother-in-law, Andy, who proceeded in death); her sister-in-law, Mary and husband Mike; along with many nieces and nephews who loved her greatly.
