James Cicero Bledsoe, Jr.

James C. Bledsoe, Jr., age 88, was called home to his Heavenly Father on September 9, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Harwell Bledsoe, daughter, Kathy Kroese and husband Jack, sons, Bill Bledsoe and wife Diane, Ronald Bledsoe and Larry Bledsoe and wife Karri, sister, Violet Daskevich, brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas and Sharon Harwell and Cliff and Kathy Oden along with numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cicero Bledsoe, Sr. and Lillian Inez Willette Bledsoe, one son, James C. Bledsoe III, three sisters, Barbara, Virginia and Inez and two brothers, W. L. (Leonard) and Lou Gene (Gene) Bledsoe.
Jim was raised on a farm in West Texas. After getting his GED, he joined the U.S. Navy and served our country for 12 years. He then joined the Air Force and served our country for another 9 years. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sargent in 1955 having served our country for a total of 21 years and moved to the San Antonio area. After a few years he moved to the Houston area where he was employed by NASA. He graduated from Houston Community College and then taught air conditioning and refrigeration at Houston Community College for 29 years and retired in 2004. He enjoyed all types of sports including hunting, fishing, baseball, football, tennis and especially volleyball. He played on the competitive volleyball team in the Air Force and after leaving the service, played on teams in the Houston City League. He met his wife, Sharon, while playing volleyball in Houston and they were married, October 31, 1976. After a few years in Houston, he and Sharon moved to their current home in Cypress, near the area of Sharon’s childhood, where they have lived for 32 years and the place where his Savior called him home.
