James Milton Ferguson passed away at the age of 76 in Houston, Texas.  James was preceded in death by his beloved parents and younger sister, Susan.  He is survived by his wife Ruth Ferguson of Houston; daughter Joy Dillon and husband Greg of Austin; son Jeff Ferguson and wife Lisa of Magnolia; brother Gary Ferguson and wife Melissa of Spring; grandsons Jeffrey, Nicholas, Lucas, and Jonathan; granddaughters Alexandra, Bailey, Farrah, and Fallon; and numerous cousins and many friends.

James grew up in Longview, Texas.  He attended Pine Tree High School where he excelled in athletics. He played football at Texas A&M University and at Arlington State College where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.  James spent his entire working career with Mobil Oil Corporation in their marketing division.  While with Mobil, he worked in San Angelo, Wichita Falls, Kansas City, San Antonio, and Houston.  He spent the bulk of his Mobil career in Houston and retired from ExxonMobil shortly after their merger.

James was one of the founding members of Boy Scout Troop 401 in Spring, Texas.   He served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for several years and he led numerous excursions to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.    He was elected to the board of trustees for the Klein Independent School District and served one term as president of the board. 

James loved all sports, but his favorite was football.  He was an “Old Army” die-hard Aggie.  He tried to attend at least one game at Kyle Field every year and never missed an Aggie game on television.  He loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Texans, and also enjoyed bird hunting and golf. 

Having been raised in a family of builders, James was also quite the craftsman.  He personally constructed a beautiful lake house at Lake Livingston and was always sharing his carpentry skills with others.  After retirement, James frequently worked with Habitat for Humanity and was a crew leader for several of their projects.

James deeply loved his family.  He cherished every moment with them and will always be remembered for his story telling and infectious laughter.  He remembered birthdays and other special occasions.  But, most of all, James loved Jesus.  He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and is now waiting for us in Heaven’s mansion.
