James Michael Freeman passed away May 28, 2018, Memorial Day, in Tomball, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.  He was 69 years of age.  James was born on June 19, 1948, in Metropolis, Illinois, to James Alford and Kathryn Holley Freeman.  After graduation from Metropolis High School, James served in the United States Army in Vietnam.  He earned his degree from the University of Maryland.  He entered law enforcement and retired from the Paducah Police Department.  James was a volunteer firefighter and a Kentucky State Fire Instructor.  He was an avid outdoorsman, with some of his best times spent fishing and hunting.  James was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Tomball, Texas.  James is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Karen Hobbs Freeman, of 36 years; brother, Steve Freeman of Benton, KY; sister-in-law, Kim Hobbs of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law, Mark Hobbs of Houston, Texas; one nephew, Jason (Melissa) Hobbs of Louisiana; two nieces, Rebecca (Tim) Long, and Sarah (Nathan) Young of Kentucky; six grand nieces and nephews.  James was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, J.T. Willie; and his step-son, Brian W. Mason.  Private Services to be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tomball, TX.  Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
