Jeffrey Lane Hammonds
December 28, 1972 – January 19, 2019
Jeffrey Lane Hammonds passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2019. He was surrounded by his family and clergy.
An inspiration to all who knew him, Jeff exemplified a life well-lived. He focused on what mattered most, the people and things he loved. God, family, friends, work, his Maltese Zydeco, the DRUMS, Houston’s food scene, and, of course, his beloved wife, Claire were his heart and soul.
Jeff, a native Houstonian, was a 1991 graduate of Cypress Creek High School, and member of the percussion band. He earned a B.A. degree in marketing from Sam Houston State University in 1996, and he enjoyed a 20-year career in engineering sales.
A devoted husband, loving son and son-in-law, loyal brother, wonderful uncle and caring grandson, Jeff is survived by his wife, Claire Credeur Hammonds; parents, Sharon and Jim Hammonds; father-in-law, Roland Credeur; brother, Michael Hammonds; niece, Maddison Hammonds; maternal grandmother, Gloria Shoquist; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jeff is proceeded in death by his maternal grandfather, CDR-USN (Ret.) David R. Shoquist; paternal grandparents, Charles and Susie Hammonds; and mother-in-law Lynn Credeur.
Visitation will be held at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at Lakewood United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 26, at 10:00 AM.
Donations may be made to the Houston Chapter of The American Heart Association where Jeff and Claire volunteered their time and talents for the Houston Heart Walk, speaking engagements, and fund-raising activities
