Tribute

The world lost the most kind hearted soul. George was very passionate about life and enjoyed having a good time with family. He was a consummate shopper with a keen sense for bargains. He was an excellent home cook and could whip out the most delicious meals at the ready for everyday and holiday entertainment. He loved dining out and always had a thing about supersizing orders. He especially loved Chinese and Mexican food. He was a wonderlust and especially loved his visits to California and New York. And no trip was complete without a few shopping destinations. He called several places his home throughout his lifetime including Los Angeles, New York and Nashville. He was born in Weslaco, TX and Houston was his most recent home. Each place created wonderful memories and era of changes. He is survived by his life time partner, Steve Locke and their two wonderful children, Josh and Mary Alice Locke and seven siblings; Abel Cortez, Grace Shamel, Phil Cortez, Sandra Whitman, Hector Cortez, Bea Langenhammer and Yvette Dasbach along with many relatives and friends. George was a peacemaker and caregiver. Everybody loved George. When you were around him, you could expect to have a great time. He will be sorely missed. There will be a special memorial mass held on Sunday, June 9 at 10:45 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church honoring George with a reception following mass.
