Jose Jorge Bastar, our beloved “George,” passed away on January 26, 2021. He was 59 years old.
Originally from Mexico City, Jose came to the United States at the young age of 19 and built a life for himself that is to be admired. He taught himself English and became a citizen while working hard in various roles to earn and save money. His exceptional work ethic eventually led him to own and operate a successful trucking company, George Trucking. Along the way he earned the deep respect of his colleagues and made many lifelong friends.
Jose’s greatest achievement was his role as a family man. He was happily married to and is survived by the love of his life, Elizabeth. He was also a loving father to Guadalupe, Richard, Jacquelyn, Alexander, and Christina. He had thirteen grandchildren and a large extended family with five brothers and four sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jose lead his family with limitless love and unwavering faith. He would do anything to help the people he loved and give whatever he had to give if you needed it. He was kind, generous and welcoming to everyone he knew. He was fun, outgoing and adventurous. He was the first one on the dance floor at a party, shouted “GOAL” the loudest when watching soccer, and the definition of cool behind the wheel of his classic Mustang.
Although he will be profoundly missed, we are comforted in the knowledge that he lived every moment of his life in devotion to God and his faith. We know we will see him again and he will be waiting with open arms and his big beautiful smile.
