Joyce Ann Doty passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 after battling the complications from a liver transplant. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Thomas “Tom” Doty, son, Todd Allen and his three children, Micheale “Michae” William Allen, Hiller “Hill” Joseph Allen, and Josephia “Josie” Maie Allen and son, Chad Allen and his wife, Elizabeth. She is also survived by stepchildren Ramona and Rodney Bruton, Lisa Doty and Robin Brady. She was the only girl in a house full of brothers. She is preceded in death by her bother, J W Gribbins. Her surviving brothers are Leonard Gribbins, Earl Gribbins, Eddie Gribbins, Tommy Gribbins, Charles Gribbins, Terry Gribbins, Larry Gribbins, and Sammy Gribbins.

One of Joyce’s  favorite activities was going out to dinner. Her favorite saying was “my ideal house would not even have a kitchen”.  She disliked cooking so much her sons had a running joke she did not know how to even use the refrigerator because for four years in a row she dropped Todd’s birthday cake on the floor when getting it in and out of it. The one dish she did cook, chili or was it spaghetti, will be cherished by many. She and her husband loved to go gambling, many Saturdays they could be found at the casinos. On Sunday mornings she was always found in church. Her love for Gospel music was only matched for her love of Elvis and Country Music. A great way to honor Joyce would be to think about organ donation. Because of the selfless act we were able to have extra time with her.  The family would like to thank the St. Luke’s Medical center SICU team and the St. Luke’s liver transplant team. 

Visitation for friends will be Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5-7 pm and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10 am. Both are being held at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home 9926 Jones Road, Houston, Texas 77065.
