Tribute

Kristina Marie Kinyon was born January 21, 1978 to Dale and Katherine (Jinks) Kinyon in Hiawatha, KS.  Kris was the apple of her Dad’s eye and had her mother’s looks. Her smile was infectious, and it would make everyone around her smile, too.  She grew up moving from town to town, wherever her Dad’s construction jobs took them.  Her younger years were spent with her parents and two siblings, Sheri and Shannon.  Kristina and her mother Kathy moved to Andover, KS and she spent the remainder of grade school and middle school years there.  In 1991 while living in Andover, Kristina and her mother, Kathy were in their home when it was hit by a horrific tornado.  Kris lost her mom and Kris was severely injured.  She was 13 years old at the time.  After losing her mother she went to live with her sister Sheri in Grapevine, TX.  She graduated from Grapevine High School in 1996.  She obtained her Cosmetology license upon graduating from high school.  She worked at different vocations throughout her life trying to find that peace she wanted to attain.  In 2003 she moved to Amarillo, TX to help care for her dad before his death in 2013.  She returned to Houston where she lived with her sister, Sheri and her husband Kevin.  Kristina enjoyed music and sports, especially watching, and going to see the Texans play in Houston.  She spent lots of her free time watching movies and could tell you what role an actor or actress played.  She loved the outdoors and watching the sunrise and set.  In May of this year while enjoying the outdoors and walking across the road she was struck by a hit-and-run driver injuring her leg and requiring surgery so she would be able to walk again. At the time of her passing she was using a wheelchair.  Kristina was a quiet girl who kept a lot inside her only showing us all her tough exterior.  We never knew the extent of her pain and of the memories of losing both her parents.  Her solace was spending time with her four-legged friends and was happy to have them around her. We will all miss her deeply.

Kristina was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine (Jinks) Sargent, her father Dale Kinyon, Paternal Grandparents John and Berniece Kinyon, and Maternal Grandparents Albert Jinks and Laura Mae York.  She is survived by her Sister, Kimberly (John) Levin, Brother Rod (Cindy) Kinyon, Brother Dan Kinyon, Sister Sheri (Kevin) Lovin-Bull, Brother Shannon (Connie) Lovin and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.  We are assured that she is at peace now.

Kristina will be cremated and reunited with her parents again.
