Lola Margaret Kidd Vogel, age 95, passed away from natural causes on April 18th, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She had resided in assisted living near her younger daughter for the past few years.
Lola was born to James W. and Lulu M. (Zabel) Kidd, in Havre, Montana on March 30, 1923. She lived her school years on a homestead farm near Gildford, MT, where she graduated from high school. In 1947 she married a WWII veteran from Kremlin, MT, Edmund A. Vogel. They honeymooned to Juneau, Alaska, which became their home, and where their four children were born. A dozen years later, she and her family moved to Haines, AK; she lived there until she moved to Houston, TX. Lola was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes and other fabric goods for family and friends. In Haines, she joined the Homemakers Club and two quilt groups, and was involved with the formation of the SE Alaska State Fair. In Juneau, she joined the Resurrection Lutheran Church, and attended the Presbyterian Church while in Haines. Her continued interest in new developments near home would result in never saying no to a drive to the country, even Canada.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents, brother Alan, husband Edmund, and son Rex. She is survived by her sister Jean Knapp of Columbus, NE; daughters Judy (Rich) Bryan of Irving, TX and Susan (Brian) Cudnik of Houston, TX; son David (Jeanie) Vogel of Skagway, AK; four grandchildren and three great-grandsons; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorials in Lola’s name may be given to Hospice of Haines. Family may be contacted at: Dave Vogel, PO Box 351, Skagway, AK 99840
