Maria Nicola Aurisano passed away on March 13, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born to Anthony and Josephine Avella on October 22, 1946 in New York. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
She grew up in Ozone Park, New York, and graduated from Queens College with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. She worked a number of years as a teacher in New York, moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma for 8 years, and ultimately to Texas, where lived for the rest of her life. She taught at a number of schools in New York, Tulsa, and Houston, and taught early childhood education at the Regis School for the Sacred Heart for more than 20 years.
She was married to her husband, Richard Aurisano, on January 3, 1970, and celebrated 54 years of marriage to him. She was highly active in church, serving as a Eucharistic minister, participating in youth ministry, and making sandwiches monthly for people in need. She was a leader in Cub Scouts for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Josephine Avella.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Richard Aurisano, sons David and Adam Aurisano, daughter-in-law Jillian Aurisano, grandchildren, Haven, Alessia, Luca, Lane, Simona, and Matteo Aurisano, her sister Phyllis and her husband Mark Gallagher, her sister Jane Avella, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
