Marie Alfrida Viking West

Marie Viking West was born on October 17, 1937, in Norway. She passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, after a long illness, which she fought valiantly with the help and care of her family. Marie worked for a company where she was able to travel far and wide throughout the United States. She often recalled interesting and funny stories of her travels to many different states and locales. She also traveled for pleasure within the United States and throughout Scandinavia, often with her family. She was an accomplished singer/songwriter, artist, and seamstress and was successful in all the endeavors. In her later years, Marie changed her profession to eldercare assistant and helped many families with the care of their elderly family members. She was highly recommended from one family to the next, due to her conscientious and loving care of her elderly charges. Marie loved being a grandmother to her two granddaughters and her grandson, who all had pet names for their beloved grandmother. She doted on all her grandchildren as they were growing up and into adulthood. Marie is survived by her daughters, Fern, Mari-Lene, and Shirley and her grandchildren, Giselle, Erika, and Lucas. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
