Tribute

MARY ELLEN BALES, a cherished and loving wife, mother, grandmother (Mimi), sister and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the age of 74, after a very long, hard fought battle with Leukemia Cancer. Ellen was born in Seagraves, Texas and lived in Fischer, Texas since the 1980’s when she and her wonderful husband, Morris Bales, built their Hill Country dream ranch. Ellen worked at the Walmart Distribution Center 6016 for over 30 years.

Ellen is survived by husband, Morris Bales, her daughter Ashley Sanabria (Houston, Texas) and her husband Bobby Sanabria and their children, Roberto “Tres” and Ella.  Sisters Carol Matthews (Rockport, Texas), Jackie Pate (Denver City, Texas) and brother Geary Martin (Canyon Lake, Texas).

Ellen is preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly Bales in 2007 to Breast Cancer.

The whole family wishes to thank her many doctors and their staffs, especially Dr. Musa Yilmaz and his staff of Julie and Lucy at MD Anderson, who tried everything they could including numerous trials to hopefully find a cure for Cancer. Hopefully, Ellen’s unselfish actions to being part of the continued research will make a difference in someone else’s life.

Ellen loved cooking, making homemade bread weekly, working in her garden, traveling and of course taking care of every animal that every crossed her path...there were many!  All that knew her - will most definitely miss her, but everyone will carry the spirit of a wonderful and caring human being and the warming feeling that she will be waiting to open the golden gates and give us guidance when that time comes.

Graveside services will be held at Fischer Cemetery in Fischer, Texas on Saturday, October 13th at 10:30am
