MaryLou passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 21, 2022 in Houston, TX, just after her 95th birthday.

MaryLou was the second daughter of Alma Vivian (Davenport) and Horace Raymond Hudson. She was born in Vernon, TX in 1927. She spent her school years in Greenville, Texas and graduated from North Texas University with an undergraduate degree in biology. She then completed a secondary degree in Medical Technology from Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, TX.

In 1948, she married Jack Edison King with whom she raised a son, Paul and two daughters, Karen and Julie in Midland, TX.  She was involved in church activities at First United Methodist Church, the PTA at several schools and was an active Girl Scout leader for two troops.  Later in life, she pursued a degree in Fine Art at Midland College and became an accomplished watercolor artist represented by several galleries in Texas, other states and abroad.  After 53 years of marriage, Jack passed away.

In 2003, she married Bert Thompson. She enjoyed his children (Bryan Thompson, Marjorie Chambers and Laura Thompson) and family for the time they had together. She moved to Houston in 2017 and lived the past 4 years at Brookdale Solana Preserve Vintage Parkway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Anna Louise (d.1926), her son Paul (d.2014) and both husbands. She is survived by:  Children: Karen and George “Punch” James of Houston, TX, Julie and Eric Olson of Midland, TX, and daughter-in-law Judi King, of West Palm Beach, FL.  Grandchildren: Brian King (Marcia), Ryan King (Alex), Benjamin James (Manda), Andrew James, Julianne James, Aubrey Olson (Mary), Anne Schwemmer (Joe), Joelle Wood (Will) and Jeff Jaskiel. Great Grandchildren: Roger King, Stanley King, Odin Olson, Magnus Olson, Solveig Olson, Tyler Warner, Taylor Warner. And last, but not least her rescue dog “Abbie”.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30th at 10:00 am at Fair Haven United Methodist Church, 1330 Gessner Rd., Houston TX 77055.
