Melvin Edwin Hanz

Melvin Edwin Hanz, 88, of Houston Tx passed away on August 26, 2020.  Melvin was born in New Braunfels on January 23, 1932.  He graduated from New Braunfels High School.  Melvin was married to Florine Behrends on April 28, 1962.  They were married for 58 years.  Melvin’s lifelong career centered around construction.  He enjoyed wood working, playing the guitar, flying airplanes, listening and dancing to polka music, playing and coaching softball, and watching birds.  He was also actively involved over the years in St. John’s United Church of Christ.

 Melvin is survived by his wife, Florine Hanz, son and four daughters, Kavin Hanz and fiancé Yvette, Denise and husband Eric Caldwell, Brenda and husband Ronnie Elmore, Cindy Beck, and Gail and husband Stan McHam,  one sister-in-law Virginia Hanz, eleven grandchildren Justin and wife Layne Hanz Megan and husband Omar Garcia, Chelsie Crosson, Ericson and wife Amber Caldwell, Edison and wife Mollie Caldwell, Skylar Elmore, Breanna Elmore, Katye and Cole Mehlbrech, Kyle Roth, Danny Alan Beck Jr. and Michelle McHam, and eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.  Melvin is preceded in death by his parents Hugo and Wanda Hanz, and brother Alton Hanz.
