It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Wayne “Mike” Cornell on Sunday, November 1, 2020. Mike was a native Houstonian, growing up and living in Northwest Houston most of his life. He is preceded in death by his son, Clifton Wayne Cornell, and sister, Cindy Lemoine. Mike is survived by his wife, Staci Cornell, his daughter, Chrissy Cornell Padgett, his mother, Betty Watts and husband, Fred Watts of Houston, and grandchildren Christopher Padgett, Jarrid Cornell and Alyssa Cornell. His surviving siblings are Jerry Salch, John Cornell and wife, Marla, and Pam Emert, all of Houston.
Mike worked as a General Superintendent in the Construction industry for well over 30 years in Houston, and was known throughout the business as the one who would “get the job done.”
In his downtime, Mike enjoyed many days of fishing in Galveston Bay with his best bud, Tracy Bailey. He occasionally enjoyed a round or two of golf, in and around the Houston area. We enjoyed many sunny days grilling burgers and hot dogs with all the kids around the pool, and sometimes getting in a fun game of water volleyball. On any given Sunday, you could probably find Mike watching NASCAR in front of his TV!
Mike will be deeply missed and was well loved by all of his family and friends.
