Millie was born September 10th, 1936 in Pearsall, Texas to Estelle and Jack McKandles. Within a few years Estelle found herself a single mother. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Sinton, Texas where Estelle met and married a man named Malcolm Burton who claims he married her because of that “sweet little darling Millie.” Together Estelle and Malcom had 3 more children Johnny, Vera Nell, and Walter.
On New Years Day in 1954, Millie married her high school sweetheart, Tommy Berry. They would be blessed with 5 children; Becky, Tammy, Sandy, Misty and Randy. Tommy was employed by Baker Oil Tools and in 1958 the family would move to Venezuela where they raised their children.
In 1975, after a desperate search for meaning in her life, Millie surrendered her heart to Jesus Christ and she became a new creation. As a result, the whole family eventually came to know the Lord as well.
Millie was a calm spirit full of grace and style. She was content just watching her family members from the comfort of her chair. She loved to dance, drink Dr. Pepper and appreciated a new hair cut & outfit. She was classy, patient, and a very good listener when you had a story to share.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents Estelle and Malcom Burton, husband Tommy and grandson Chase Gill. She is survived by her siblings Johnny (Glenda) Burton, Vera (Gene) Mangold, Walter (Janet) Burton, 5 children, Becky (Vicente) Betancourt, Tammy (Johnnie) Butler, Sandy Gill, Misty (Scott) Crosby and Randy Berry. Grandchildren Brandon, Lisha, Karina, Jeremy, Jordan, Jenna, Blake, Kyle, Keleigh, Kasey, Karlie, Sam & Megan; 27 great grandchildren.
“We are never wonderful saints of whom God may justly be proud: We are His little children, immature and filled with foolishness, with whom He is endlessly patient and on whom He has been pleased to set all his infinite heart of Love. He is wonderful. We are not. His name is Jesus Christ. ”
